SSNAP is delighted to announce the appointment of Luke Froude as the charity’s new Chair, effective January 2026.

Luke brings to the role an over sixteen years of personal and professional commitment to SSNAP’s mission. His connection with the charity began through deeply personal experience and has grown into dedicated leadership and advocacy for families facing the realities of neonatal care.

Luke and his wife Gemma have been tireless supporters of SSNAP since their son Finnley’s birth in 2010. Finnley spent 125 days in the Neonatal Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital, and his family’s fundraising efforts in his memory have been nothing short of extraordinary. In 2016 Gemma and Luke had another Son Henry who was also born premature and spent some weeks on the unit. Henry is now also a keen supporter of SSNAP, completing his own challenges or cheering others on at events. Over the past sixteen years, the Froude family, with friends and community support, have raised more than £125,000 for SSNAP. This incredible effort highlights both their resilience and deep belief in SSNAP’s work supporting families when they need it most.

Luke has served on SSNAP’s Board of Trustees for nine years, sharing insights shaped by personal experience and a passion for supporting the neonatal unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

“I have personally been deeply thankful for SSNAP’s support with both our boys. I was very grateful 9 years ago to be asked to be on the board. I am now honoured to be voted in as Chair. I look forward to continuing the great work of Kerri Knibbs the prior Chair and continuing to work with the rest of our fantastic board. Lastly a huge thank you to all of the wonderful SSNAP Staff, volunteers and supporters - your work makes such a difference to sick newborns and their parents”

SSNAP’s Chair role includes strategic leadership of the Board, championing governance excellence, and working with staff, volunteers and supporters to ensure the charity’s work remains impactful and forward-looking.

As SSNAP marks this new chapter in 2026, the charity continues to invite supporters to join its mission. From regular giving and membership to fundraising events like the upcoming Blenheim Fun Run and Oxford Half Marathon, there are many ways families and individuals can help make a lasting difference for sick and premature newborns and their parents.

If you think you could add some skills to the SSNAP board why not drop us a line to be considered for future posts?
