Parental and wider family support at what can be a very distressing time is a key part of SSNAP’s work.

We support the parents of the babies in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit for as long as is required and our office just inside the main Maternity entrance is a safe haven for parents who are able to come and talk to us and receive assistance if needed.

SSNAP funds two Family Support Workers: Clare Leach and Louise Hartley. Caz Stokes, Deputy Administrator at the SSNAP office also has special responsibility for Parent Help and can co-ordinate assistance across a wide range of contacts.

SSNAP also has a team of Parent Help Volunteers, all of whom has had direct experience of having a baby or babies on the NICU in the past. They are there to listen and offer emotional support to Mothers, Fathers, Carers and Grandparents and visit the Maternity wards and the Unit twice a week.If you wish to make an appointment to see one of our Parent Help Volunteers please contact the SSNAP office tel: 01865 221359 or email: ssnap

If you are interested in becoming a Parent Help Volunteer we would be very happy to talk to you.We ask that you wait at least a year after your baby is discharged from the hospital so that you are ready to talk to other parents during a difficult time in their lives. Please contact Caz Stokes at the SSNAP office.

We run coffee mornings for NICU families why not come along and meet some SSNAP members for a chat and advice. Details can be found in upcoming events.
